Christians believe God is not a bigger version of a human being, but a different kind of reality altogether — without beginning or end, present everywhere, all-knowing and all-powerful, yet also personal: someone who can be known, not just a force.
Christianity describes God as one being existing as three persons — Father, Son and Holy Spirit (see Trinity). This is one of Christianity’s more distinctive and harder-to-summarise claims, developed as the early church wrestled with how Jesus and the Holy Spirit relate to God the Father.
Christians believe God is both loving and just, involved in the world rather than distant from it, and ultimately knowable through Jesus.
