Salvation describes the whole rescue Christians believe God offers through Jesus: forgiveness for sin, restored relationship with God now, and the hope of eternal life. It has past, present and future dimensions — Christians speak of having been saved, being saved, and one day being fully saved.
Christians agree salvation is a gift of grace received through faith in Jesus, not something earned through good deeds. Traditions differ somewhat in how they describe the ongoing process and the certainty of it, but the core — Jesus rescues, not you — is shared.
