If God already knows everything, what’s the point of prayer?

Prayer isn’t giving God information He doesn’t already have. Jesus actually tells His followers that God already knows what they need before they ask Him.

So why talk? Because prayer isn’t primarily information. It’s relationship and honesty.

Think about somebody you love. They might already know you’re struggling. But there’s still something important about saying: “This is how I feel.” Christianity says God already knows what’s on your heart. Prayer is choosing to bring it to Him anyway.

Your gratitude. Your fear. Your anger. Your mistakes. Your hopes. Your questions. Even your doubts. You don’t need religious language. You need honesty.

Christians also believe prayer genuinely matters. They believe God hears prayer and can act in response to it. But Christianity doesn’t promise that every prayer will produce exactly the outcome we request. Sometimes circumstances change. Sometimes we change. Sometimes the answer isn’t what we wanted. And sometimes we’re left wondering why an answer didn’t seem to come at all.

Prayer isn’t a transaction where saying the right words guarantees a result. It’s a relationship.
