Prayer can be formal (written or spoken prayers used across generations) or completely informal (talking to God in your own words, wherever you are). Christians pray to praise, ask for things, say sorry, and simply be honest with God about life.
Christianity doesn’t teach that prayer works like a vending machine — ask correctly, receive automatically. It’s presented as building and expressing a relationship, with God treated as a wise, personal presence rather than a wish-granting mechanism.
