Christians believe Scripture, while written by real human authors in real historical situations, is uniquely inspired by God and carries lasting authority for belief and life. This doesn’t mean every sentence is read the same way — poetry, history, law and letters are read according to what kind of writing they are.
Christians hold varying views on details of interpretation and translation, but broadly share confidence that the Bible, read carefully and in context, reliably reveals who God is and who Jesus is.
